2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 – Revell

A very high quality kit by Revell Monogram, part of their Special Edition line that has better sculpted parts and more decal choices. One thing that needs to be said from the get-go is that this is a pretty difficult kit, fair amount of fine paint work needs to be done to replicate the car accordingly and a fair amount of taping pieces together while letting the glue set so you can carry on.

The quality of the model can’t be overstated, when Revell gives it a Special Edition go, it does feel like extra effort and work have been put into making the plastic quality thicker
and better, details are more visible and its all just generally a lot smoother to work with. challengernew (2) The end result is that with the better parts, it all just fits together really well and aside from needing to tape some bits together while drying, it all fit together like a glove. Also it comes with a set of extra rims to go with the secondary version, along with red stripes for the sides.

Engine-wise it’s got the proper 6.1 HEMI block replicated beautifully, the engine bay itself got a fair amount of detail worked into it and all in all it’s just really damn pretty to let the hood sit up. The interior quality is really high too, but where it truly shines is on the exterior. With enough effort it looks like a proper showroom miniature and it’s not even that difficult to get it to look that good! Also, just a heads-up for those who really want to make it look epic; HobbyDesign makes a photo-etched detail up set for the Challenger(it’s model no. HD02-0306) that goes for around 5 dollar on eBay, it makes a really big difference in bringing out the grille.

There’s literally just one tiny niggle I got with the kit, just one! The decals for on the engine covers(6.1 HEMI and HEMI) are printed for a 1/24 kit and not 1/25, so they don’t actually fit… well. Still looks okay but, just a visual niggle. But that’s really it!

All in all, it’s a nice challenge to build and it’s just beautiful in the end
